This presentaton title was 'Computer Conferencing Support for the Community of Business Language Learners, Tutors and Curriculum Developers' presented at the Association for Language Learning conference 'Language World'. I presented with the late Alice Mitchell, head of the Anglia Polytechnic University language centre and the Teclab project which I helped her with.

Teclab Conference
This workshop was part of the Teclab conference organised by the late Alice Mitchell which focussed on standards-based language learning and was aimed at eastern region of the UK businesses and education. EuroCALL '95
This conference for Computer Aided Language Learning was titled 'Technology Enhanced Language Learning: Focus On Integration' and was held at the Universidad Politécnica De Valencia, Spain. I attended with the late Alice Mitchell to present a jointly authored paper 'Portfolio Tools for Supporting Linguistic and Cultural Learning' which described and demonstrated the immersive learning environment we were developing with Sam Deane for Teleste OY.

Beyond the Classroom
I presented 'Building Learning for the Future from Lessons in the Past' at this one-day colloquium organised by the Humanities Computing Unit, University of Oxford. In the programme it said – "In this interactive multimedia presentation, the speaker will debate with the audience some of the strengths and weaknesses of traditional classroom-based learning and how new teaching approaches must cater for learners' needs. The cognitive and communicative aspects of multimedia and Internet technologies and their place in learning are not to act as 'teacher-replacements' but may affect the pedagogy, curriculum, and scope of education."
