I was employed by Bob Lewis, Director in 1980, at first to translate paper tape software simulations to cassette and floppy disk. I continued under Margaret Cox's direction, developing over ten years as a team adviser, lecturer, educational researcher and author.

I formed Core Education UK, a non-profit research and development company in learning technology, together with colleagues Alison Gee, Maureen Gurr, Graham Hart, Sarah Jones, Malcolm Moss, Rex Wingate. It took on contracts with a range of clients, from the Improvement & Development Agency for local government, the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority to Macmillan Cancer Support. It also provided a home for the National Archive of Educational Computing and the Owers Lecture.

I was appointed to this post in the newly formed Institute for Educational Cybernetics, part-time, to work with Stephen Powell to develop the IDIBL project - a new take on the Ultraversity project. Since this was action research, I developed and faciltated on the Masters in Learning with Technology. In 2011, I began working on the TEL-Map European project acting as coordinator for the IEC effort.
